Account & privacy
OTP login, profile settings, notifications, who sees what, and how to keep your account — and your data — under your control.
How does OTP login work — is there no password?
Correct — no password, ever. Enter your phone number (or email, if you prefer), and we send a 6-digit one-time code. Type it in and you're signed in. The code expires within minutes and works once, so there's no password for anyone to steal, guess, or leak.
You can sign in with either your phone or your email; both point at the same account once they're on your profile. If a code doesn't arrive, wait for the resend timer and try again — codes can take a few seconds on a congested network.
One rule keeps this whole system safe: never share an OTP with anyone. PlotsLand staff will never ask for it — anyone who does is trying to take over your account.
How do I update my profile, phone, or email?
Profile basics — your name, city, and role — are edited from the Profile section of your dashboard, and changes reflect immediately on your listings and enquiries.
Your phone and email double as your login identity, so changing them re-verifies with an OTP to the new number or address before it takes effect. That prevents anyone with brief access to your session from silently rerouting your account.
Keep at least one reachable identity current at all times: it's where OTPs, enquiry alerts, and moderation updates land. If you've lost access to both your old phone and email, contact support with your account details to recover the account.
How do I control which notifications I get?
Notification settings in your dashboard let you choose what reaches you: saved-search alerts, requirement matches, enquiry and message notifications, visit reminders, and product updates — each can be toggled independently.
Transactional messages (OTPs, payment receipts, moderation decisions on your own listings) can't be disabled while you use the service, because the account doesn't function safely without them.
In-app notifications have a read/unread state, so you can mark everything read in one tap when you're caught up. If alerts feel noisy, narrow the saved search that generates them rather than turning alerts off — a tighter filter beats no signal.
Who can see my contact details and activity?
Your phone number and email are never public. A seller's number is revealed only to a signed-in user who deliberately taps reveal on their listing; a buyer's contact surfaces only through the enquiry they choose to send. Nothing else — your searches, shortlists, saved searches, and viewed listings — is visible to anyone but you.
What is public is what you publish: a listing shows its photos, plot details, locality, your first name, and your verification status; a requirement shows what you're looking for. Neither shows your exact contact details.
The privacy policy spells out the full picture — what we collect, who we share it with (payment gateway, SMS/email providers), and for how long we keep it.
How do I download or delete my data and account?
You can ask for a copy of your personal data — profile, listings, requirements, enquiry history — by writing to privacy@plotsland.in from your registered email. We'll compile it and send it within the timelines Indian law prescribes.
To close your account, use the account deletion option or write to the same address. Deletion removes your profile, listings, and requirements from the platform; residual copies clear from backups within 90 days.
Some records survive deletion because the law requires it — chiefly invoices and payment records (tax law) and records tied to an open dispute or investigation. The privacy policy's retention section lists these explicitly.
How do I keep my account secure?
The big one: treat OTPs like cash. Never read one out on a call, never forward one, never type one into any site other than PlotsLand — no legitimate person will ever need your code, including us.
Sign out on shared or borrowed devices, and keep your login phone number active — an abandoned, recycled number is the most common account-takeover path for OTP systems anywhere.
If you see activity you don't recognise — listings you didn't post, enquiries you didn't send — report it to support@plotsland.in immediately and we'll lock the account while we investigate.
